- STEPS FOR THE COURSE:
STEP 1: Register for ClassClick the button below to Purchase the Open Water class. The Open Water cost is $599.00 per person. Once purchased, contact us at the shop (909-596-2505) and we will email you some quick paperwork to fill out as well as your online E-learning "homework" code. Participants must be ages 10 years old and over, be in reasonably good health, and have adequate swimming ability.
STEP 2: Homework
The online, electronic learning (E-Learning) is the independent studies portion of the class where the student completes the knowledge development (theory and terminology) before moving forward to confined water. This "homework" as it is commonly called, is at your own pace, though is about 12 to 15 hours worth of material and includes an interactive study, end of chapter quizzes, and a final test.
STEP 3: Getting Hands On
Upon completion of the E-Learning, we will contact the student to schedule their classroom time and confined water that we hold once a month.
3a. Classroom Time: The student will meet their instructor and fellow "dive buddies", and review the material from the E-Learning. This "classroom time" is instrumental in the development of competent divers because this is when the student is able to ask questions, see, and get hands-on instruction about the equipment they will be using. 3b. Confined Water: After the classroom session, the students will make their way to the pool. Here, they will be required to pass a small swim test, then will begin their confined water skills training. STEP 4: Applying Skills
Once the student feels comfortable on Scuba in the pool, the instructor will schedule a time to take the group to open water (usually the ocean).
Using fun techniques to help the students feel more at-ease, the instructor will supervise as the students demonstrate the basic Scuba skills they practiced in the pool. Students are required to complete at least 4 training dives in open water over the course of a minimum of 2 days, and show that they are a competent, safe diver, before the instructor will certify them. STEP 5: You're Done!
Congratulations Certified Diver!
At this step, the student has successfully completed the theoretical, as well as the practical application of the basic Open Water class and has earned the stamp-of-approval from their instructor. The student will receive a certification card indicating that they are a qualified diver with an accredited Scuba agency. |
